Obrafour tops my all-time rappers list — Guru reveals why Okyeame Kwame still makes his top 5

Ghanaian Rapper Guru has opened up about the artists who shaped his artistic identity, revealing a carefully considered personal ranking of Ghana’s top rappers of all time. His list, which places Obrafour at the very top, also includes himself, Sarkodie, Lord Kenya, and Okomfo Kwadee in the top five. But it was his comments about Okyeame Kwame that grabbed the most attention.
According to Guru, ranking rappers is always controversial, but certain names are impossible to ignore.
“Number one is Obrafour,” he stated proudly. “Number two is me, Guru. Sarkodie follows, then Lord Kenya, and Okomfo Kwadee.”
He clarified that Okyeame Kwame, often believed to have had friction with him in the past, is firmly within his top ten, praising him as “one of the most skillful musicians Ghana has ever produced.”
His remarks were especially striking given the long-standing rumours that his hit track Nkasiebo was aimed at Okyeame Kwame. Guru took the opportunity to address this narrative again, strongly denying any intention to disrespect the Rap Dacta.
“I’ve never done anything bad to Okyeame Kwame,” he insisted. “I respect him too much. He is huge in this industry. If the song offended him, then I am sincerely sorry, because that was never the purpose.”
Guru then walked listeners through the creative journey of Nkasiebo, noting that it began as an idea drafted in a trotro. He said the Abrafo team later stepped in for the editing, shaping the version that became a nationwide hit.
He also credited Stonebwoy for inspiring crucial elements of the song. “Stonebwoy gave me the vibe in the studio. He was part of the energy,” he said.
