Kwame Ntow Amoah appointed acting CEO of GNPC

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has appointed Kwame Ntow Amoah as its new Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He replaces Edward Abambire Bawa, who has been reassigned as Managing Director and Group CEO of GOIL.
Mr. Amoah brings a strong background in petroleum sector management, having previously served as Deputy Chief Executive at GNPC and Director of Petroleum at the Ministry of Energy. He also acted as an Advisor to the Minister of Energy, playing a vital role in shaping Ghana’s energy policies.
A respected figure in Ghana’s energy industry, Mr. Amoah played a critical role in major international arbitration cases involving the country. Notably, he served as Technical Advisor for Ghana in the Maritime Boundary Case, which Ghana won on September 23, 2017.
His efforts in securing international investments have been instrumental in Ghana’s oil and gas sector growth. One of his most notable achievements was securing approximately $7 billion in investment for the Sankofa Oil and Gas Development Project, along with $700 million in World Bank guarantees. These investments have strengthened Ghana’s position in the global energy market.
Mr. Amoah holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana. He has also undergone advanced leadership and energy management training at global institutions.
In a statement, GNPC expressed confidence in his leadership, stating:
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Amoah on his appointment and look forward to his leadership in advancing GNPC’s strategic vision.”
As the new Acting CEO, Mr. Amoah is expected to drive GNPC’s mission of sustainable hydrocarbon development and energy security for Ghana.
