Okraku Mantey lied; I’m not on radio

Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana has described as misleading claims that he is still on radio despite his government appointment.

In a post shared via social media, he said, “I wish to categorically state that the recent claim made by Mr. Mark Okraku Mantey, alleging that I am still actively engaged in radio broadcasting despite my government appointment, is entirely false and misleading.

Abeiku Santana’s reaction comes on the back of Okraku Mantey’s interview on Joy FM where he questioned why the radio personality will keep his position at Despite media even though he has been appointed to a public office.

He said, “Why is Abeiku Santana going on air? Taking public office and he’s still working at UKFM,” he quizzed, referring to Okay FM by its former name.

“And you guys, yes, yes. Look, you guys are quiet. Abeiku Santana works for Ghana Tourism Authority public office and he’s using office hours to work at UKFM.”

He went on to clarify that although he had not personally reviewed the specific public commission laws, the Constitution and directives from the Minister are clear on the matter.

“You cannot use office hours to do any other job. Actually, what you should be doing is hosting like a weekly show—maybe tourism. A weekly show pro bono. Maybe tourism or some culture or something like that. That kind of thing.”
