Oliver Barker Vormawor shares vision behind #FixTheCountry movement

Convener of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker Vormawor, has shared key excerpts from the official charter of the movement, offering Ghanaians a clearer understanding of its mission, structure, and guiding values.

In a post on his Facebook page, Barker Vormawor emphasized that #FixTheCountry is a non-partisan social justice movement grounded in a people-centered democratic vision.

With the motto “Demanding Better, Doing Better,” the movement seeks to mobilize Ghanaians—especially the youth—towards civic activism and democratic accountability.

According to the charter, #FixTheCountry operates as a decentralized coalition of rule of law, pro-democracy, and social justice activists. It exists to build grassroots infrastructure, empower marginalized voices, and advocate for structural reforms that ensure social and economic equity.

The document outlines the movement’s commitment to non-violent civil disobedience, civic education, and community-based organizing.

It also calls for holistic constitutional reform, arguing that the current 1992 Constitution of Ghana perpetuates democratic dysfunction and entrenches inequality.

The movement stresses its opposition to all forms of non-democratic governance and pledges to work towards an open democracy where public institutions are answerable to the people.
