The government has launched the One Million Coders Programme, a nationwide initiative aimed at training one million Ghanaians in coding and digital skills to promote innovation, job creation, and economic growth.
The programme was officially unveiled on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at a ceremony held in Accra, with satellite events organised across other parts of the country.
The event brought together key stakeholders from government, the technology sector, and development partners.
Speaking at the launch, Minister for Communications, Digital Innovation and Technologies, Sam Nartey George, highlighted the urgency of investing in Ghana’s digital future.
“We are at a defining moment in Ghana’s digital journey—one that demands urgency and bold investment in our people. This initiative is not just about learning to code; it’s about equipping Ghanaians with the tools to drive inclusive growth and build a resilient digital economy,” he said.
The programme is designed to provide accessible training opportunities for young people, professionals, and underserved communities, with the broader goal of positioning Ghana as a leader in Africa’s digital economy.
