Only the weak are punished – Walewale MP slams resident Mahama over dollar saga

Walewale Member of Parliament, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, has fiercely criticized President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of shielding the politically powerful while allowing the law to weigh heavily on the vulnerable.
His remarks come in the wake of what is now widely referred to as the “Dollar Cash Saga,” involving the Acting CEO of Goldbod, Sammy Gyamfi, and controversial televangelist Nana Agradaa.
Speaking to the press, Dr. Mahama lambasted the President’s handling of the incident, calling it a blatant example of selective justice.
“The President’s actions are a clear testament to the selective application of the law. What we are witnessing is that the so-called Code of Conduct only applies to the vulnerable,” he said.
“That, however, is not even my main concern. My issue is not just with the Code of Conduct itself, because it has become evident that this code is nothing more than a powerless document—ineffective in holding the powerful accountable and only biting the weak.”
The President has come under intense scrutiny after issuing only a formal caution to Sammy Gyamfi, who was caught on video handing over bundles of U.S. dollar notes to Nana Agradaa.
The footage, which went viral, triggered public outrage and renewed calls for stronger accountability measures among public officials.
But Dr. Mahama argues that the matter goes beyond poor judgment, insisting that the President has overstepped his legal authority.
“This situation represents a gross abuse and breach of statute—a law we’ve highlighted in our press conference. It is not within the President’s remit to unilaterally forgive such a breach.
“The law is clear: the President is expected to act in accordance with the prescribed penalties stated in the Act,” he stated.
