Power outage scheduled for May 18 in Sowutuom, Ablekuma, and surrounding communities

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) will carry out scheduled maintenance works at the Mallam Bulk Supply Point on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The exercise forms part of efforts to enhance electricity service delivery in the affected areas.

According to ECG, the maintenance will necessitate a temporary power outage that will impact several communities across the Greater Accra Region.

Areas expected to be affected include: Odorkor, Awoshie, Sakaman, Mallam, Darkuman, Santa Maria, Kwashieman, Sowutuom, Ablekuma, Tabora, Joma, and Manhean.

Additional communities such as Gbawe, Weija, West Hills Mall, Oblogo, Anyaa, Bortianor, McCarthy Hills, Mandela, Sunda Industries, Tuba, Dunkonaa, and Dansoman will also experience an interruption in power supply during the maintenance period.

The ECG has expressed regret over the inconvenience the planned outage may cause and has assured residents that the exercise is essential to improving the reliability and quality of electricity distribution in the area.

Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to take the necessary precautions and plan accordingly. ECG says it is committed to minimizing the duration of the outage and restoring power as swiftly as possible once the maintenance is completed.
