Ghana, Ukraine strengthen ties on cybersecurity and digital innovation

Ghana and Ukraine are pushing forward a fresh digital alliance following a high-level virtual meeting on June 4, 2025, between Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George and Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Demokhin.

The two countries pledged deeper cooperation in cybersecurity, AI, innovation, and digital governance.

“We are eager to learn from Ukraine’s experiences and strengthen our systems for greater resilience and innovation,” George said, expressing interest in adopting Ukraine’s model for Chief Digital Transformation Officers and AI-powered public service tools.

Demokhin praised Ghana’s Digital Agenda and highlighted Ukraine’s digital breakthroughs amid adversity. “We believe Ukrainian experience would support the initiatives on your agenda,” he noted.

The meeting also explored the idea of a joint Ghana-Ukraine IT forum to connect businesses, tech leaders, and public institutions from both countries. Ukraine also acknowledged Ghana’s “principled position” on international peace efforts.

Follow-up technical sessions are expected in the coming months to outline concrete actions in what appears to be a growing digital partnership between Accra and Kyiv.
