Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu denies comments attributed to him on victims of the Adansi helicopter crash.

Former Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, has debunked statements being attributed to him about the victims of the helicopter crash.

There were reports in the local media indicating that he had politicized the issue, indicating that those who died are NDC members, and so they should mourn while his political party focuses on their issues.

But in a video interview, he expressed shock at the comments attributed to him, indicating that it was orchestrated by his own party people who do not support the candidate he is projecting for flagbearer.

“It was a party meeting where I spoke. All of us who met are NPP members, and someone went to twist what I said. However, what is being attributed to me is not what I said. I believe in God, and people who lie against my person will be left in the hands of God to deal with them.

He continued, “I’ve said everywhere I go that those who have died are ministers of state; they are not NDC ministers. They are ministers of the state of the Republic of Ghana. I said Ghana is the one that is bereaved. I explained that these two are my friends with whom I engage most of the time. Even Murtala, I sat with him for two hours for his PhD thesis, and he even said he was going to dedicate two chapters to me. I also said the soldiers were state assets trained by the country, and that how will their family survive. I was even told that one of the soldiers has a two-month-old baby. The soldiers’ plane is not even insured, and those were the things I discussed.”

Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu further explained that he had a very good relationship with Samuel Sarpong, who was one time KMA boss and also an Ashanti Regional Minister, adding that he operated an open-door policy, which helped in the governance process.

He was therefore shocked that people would twist what he said and attribute those comments in bad taste to him.

“I never said that they are NDC leaders and that the NDC should focus on their bereaved while the NPP focuses on its politics. I never said that and will never say that anywhere. I have said that people should focus on selling their candidates and stop peddling falsehoods,” he stated in a video interview circulating on social media.
