OSP invites DVLA boss over GHC4 million bribery claim

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited Julius Neequaye Kotey, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), for questioning over his recent disclosure of a GH¢4 million bribery attempt.
Mr. Kotey revealed in a media interview that he was offered the amount by unidentified individuals seeking to stop the rollout of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy, an initiative designed to combat vehicle-related fraud and enhance road safety.
In a statement, the OSP said it is engaging the DVLA boss to obtain further information and determine the identities of those behind the alleged bribery.
In a related development, the OSP has launched investigations into a sitting member of the Council of State for alleged corruption linked to gold trading.
According to sources, the inquiry focuses on claims that the Council member used his position to influence the issuance of a gold licence to a company in which he is said to have undisclosed interests.
