OSP wasn’t delaying Ken Ofori-Atta’s case – Kissi Agyebeng clarifies

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has told Kwaku Sintim Misa that there’s no rift between his office and the Attorney General over the extradition and prosecution processes involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
According to Agyebeng, confusion arose when both institutions made overlapping requests.
“The Attorney General’s letter came on June 13, just three days after we had raided two offices with National Security.
“We had seized documents, hard drives, and servers. We were still opening the electronic evidence when the request for the docket came,” he explained on the KSM Show in the interview monitored by MyNewsGh.
He said the OSP had already assigned two officers to join the Attorney General’s prosecution team, but the case file wasn’t ready because they were still validating evidence.
“We had intercepted a trove of data. Before handing over any docket, we had to confirm the authenticity of emails and digital records from foreign partners. That process takes time,” he said.
Agyebeng clarified that neither side was to blame, despite public perception of a rift. “There was no wrongdoing on our part, and none on the part of the Attorney General. The impression that someone was delaying the case was simply false,” he stressed.
He revealed that some validation reports from international companies only arrived months later.
“For instance, last week Monday, we received confirmation from our foreign partners verifying that some intercepted emails were genuine. That’s how thorough we have to be,” he added.
