Otumfuo to resume Bawku mediation talks at Manhyia Palace

His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, is set to resume mediation efforts in the long-running Bawku conflict later this month, according to a press release issued by the Manhyia Palace on April 15, 2025.
The mediation, which is being undertaken with the agreement of both parties involved in the crisis, is scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The Asantehene has urged all stakeholders to fully cooperate as efforts continue to find a lasting and peaceful resolution to the conflict in Bawku.
“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will resume mediation of the Bawku crisis as agreed with both parties from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi. Asantehene requests all stakeholders to cooperate for us to find a lasting peace in Bawku,” the statement read.
Otumfuo’s involvement in the peace process is part of broader efforts to stabilize the troubled Bawku area, which has seen periodic outbreaks of violence in recent years due to longstanding chieftaincy and ethnic tensions.
