People are determined to steal

Businessman Prince Kofi Amoabeng has expressed deep frustration over what he describes as a culture of sabotage within institutions, warning that Ghana’s development will remain stalled unless mindsets change.
He recounted how even leaders determined to enforce discipline are targeted. According to him, “people are determined to steal and if you try to stop them… they will scheme against you to get you out.”
Amoabeng revealed that he personally experienced severe pushback from his own staff while heading UT.
“My own company that I built from scratch… still some people don’t like me and the way I run the company,” he said in an interview in Channel One TV monitored by MyNewsGh, noting that individuals given opportunities often resented his strict culture.
He disclosed that damaging stories were fabricated about him during UT’s rapid expansion. “The stories they will spin around you—unbelievable. Some stories… I can’t even say here because other people are involved,” he added.
Amoabeng believes this culture of internal destruction is the reason Ghana struggles to develop.“We are really horrible to ourselves… that’s why we’re not developing,” he remarked.
For him, transforming Ghana begins with transforming the national attitude.“The most important limitation to development is the mindset. If we can get a few people in leadership right, we can change,” he asserted.
But anyone attempting reform, he warned, must prepare for fierce resistance. “As you try to change it, come and see scheming,” he emphasized.
