We await white smoke – Dennis Miracles Aboagye on NDC’s galamsey talks

Former Presidential staffer and aide to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called on the NDC government to remain committed and focused as it meets with civil society organisations (CSOs) and key stakeholders in search of solutions to the galamsey menace.
Sharing his thoughts in a Facebook post ahead of the high-level dialogue, Aboagye wrote; “Dear NDC Government, As you go into conclave this morning with CSOs in search of solution to the ‘aged long’ Galamsey menace, may you stay focused and come out with a lasting solution. We await the white smoke by evening.”
The comment comes as President John Dramani Mahama prepares to host a broad consultation today, Friday, October 3, with influential religious and civil society leaders.
The engagement, scheduled for Accra, will bring together bodies such as the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Ghana, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the Office of the Chief Imam, the Ghana Muslim Mission, Arocha Ghana, and IMANI Ghana.
The meeting is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to share perspectives and propose strategies that can complement ongoing government efforts to tackle the widespread environmental destruction caused by illegal mining.
