Police arrest 21 in latest raid in Samreboi

The Police raid of galamsey sites in Samreboi has entered day 4.

In the latest raid, the police picked up 21 illegal miners in Tano Nimri and along the Tano River.

This takes the number of arrested illegal miners to 47, out of which 39 are Ghanaians, 8 are Chinese, and 4 are Ghanaian women.

Meanwhile, 17 excavators and one bulldozer have been seized during the raid.

The police have since transported 26 of the suspects to Accra to face justice.

The government of Ghana has assured the people of its commitment to fighting illegal mining across the country.

The move is to help save water bodies and also salvage forest reserves.
