Police arrest Nigerian woman in Spintex dawn robbery, recover stolen items

Police have arrested a Nigerian woman in connection with a dawn robbery at Spintex in Accra, where a 35-year-old man lost cash, gold jewelry, and other valuables.
Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor said the incident occurred in the early hours of September 14, 2025.
“At about 3:25 a.m., suspects broke into the residence and stole gold jewelry, a laptop, wristwatches, handbags, clothing, and cash, including $5,000 and GH¢21,645,” she said.
Police recovered items believed to be left behind by the suspects, including a machete, a metal cutter, and a T-shirt.
Acting on intelligence, officers arrested the suspect, Jennifer Nweke, at Adenta on September 18, recovering some of the stolen property, such as jewelry, mobile phones, and cash.
The suspect also led investigators to additional hideouts. “At Agbogba, more items belonging to the complainant were retrieved,” COP Donkor said.
Further searches in Glefe and near a rubbish dump recovered a Philippine passport, two ladies’ purses with business and ATM cards, and a wrapped black polythene bag containing travel documents.
Authorities are continuing efforts to locate other suspects linked to the robbery.
COP Donkor confirmed that those in custody, including Nweke, are cooperating with the investigation and will be brought before the courts once procedures are complete.
