Police arrest suspect after security guard’s death

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, Kwame Arhin, also known as Abompe, on suspicion of murdering a security guard at Kibi Presbyterian College of Education.
In a statement signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit, the police confirmed that the suspect was picked up on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after a man was found dead in a bush near the college.
According to the police, the arrest followed a distress call received the previous day. “Police found the body of a male adult identified as Jonas Baah Sarpong.
“The scene was processed and the body was removed and deposited at the Kibi Government Hospital morgue and subsequently transferred to the Police Hospital, Accra, for preservation and autopsy,” the statement said.
Preliminary investigations point to a dispute between the deceased and the suspect, both of whom worked at the college.
“A misunderstanding between him and suspect Kwame Arhin alias Abompe led to the latter slashing the victim’s throat with a cutlass and absconding,” the police indicated.
