Police arrest suspect captured in viral video discharging firearm at Jamestown

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 29-year-old Samuel Aryeetey Kortor, who was captured in a viral video discharging a firearm at Jamestown in Accra.

According to a statement shared on the official Facebook page of the Police Service, the arrest was made on April 9, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation.

Initial investigations have revealed that the suspect is also wanted by the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for murder.

During a subsequent search of the suspect’s residence at Gbese-Jamestown, officers recovered a Beretta pistol with serial number PX-195994.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects connected to the incident.

The Police Service assured the public that they remain committed to tackling violent crime and ensuring community safety, urging anyone with information to assist in bringing the remaining culprits to justice.
