Police arrest suspect, recover weapons after rival group clash at Simpa

The Western Central Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Daniel Cudjoe, alias Ato Asare, following a violent clash between two rival groups at Simpa, near the Simpa Sawmill in the Nsuaem District, on September 28, 2025.

According to the police, the confrontation involved Cudjoe’s group and another group known as Dadwen, led by suspects Alhassan and Abolo, who are currently at large. The incident escalated into an exchange of gunfire, resulting in the death of Emmanuel Cudjoe, the 23-year-old brother of the suspect.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that suspect Daniel Cudjoe alias Ato Asare, together with his deceased brother Emmanuel Cudjoe and ten others now at large, confronted the Dadwen group after receiving information that they had destroyed his mining equipment,” the police said in a statement.

Police retrieved two pump-action guns, three machetes, four motorbikes, a tricycle, and regalia from the scene.

Reassuring the public, Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, stated: “The Police Command assures the general public that investigations are ongoing to arrest all persons involved to face the full rigours of the law.”
