Police arrest two suspects after viral child abuse video at Agona Jamasi

Police have arrested two suspects following a viral video that showed the physical abuse of a young girl at Agona Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.

The arrests were carried out by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after the disturbing footage circulated on social media.

In a statement dated December 16, 2025, the Police confirmed that “two suspects have been arrested following a viral video showing the physical abuse of a young girl at Agona Jamasi.”

The suspects were identified as Grace Mensah and Godfred Osei Akoto, the latter being the man seen in the video assaulting the child.

According to the Police, “swift investigations led the team to Agona Jamasi, where suspect Grace Mensah was arrested,” adding that further operations resulted in the arrest of Osei Akoto.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred on December 6, 2025, after the victim reportedly went out and failed to return home.

The Police disclosed that “suspect Osei Akoto told police that he had authorisation of the grandmother to assault the child,” a claim that is now part of ongoing investigations.

The victim, an 11-year-old girl, has since been rescued and is currently receiving support.

Both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigations.
