Police arrest two suspects in Ahafo robbery spree; manhunt launched for others

The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects believed to be part of a robbery syndicate that carried out coordinated attacks on a gold-buying company, a cocoa-buying firm, and attempted to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank at Nkasiem on December 2, 2025.
According to the police, the gang “seized two Police rifles” during the operation and also shot and wounded a victim in the thigh.
The injured person was treated and discharged at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem.
The Command said the arrests were made “through a targeted intelligence-led operation,” adding that a manhunt is currently underway for the remaining suspects.
The Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters to support the regional operation.
The deployment, according to the statement, is to “assist the Regional Command to pursue other members of the syndicate who are currently on the run.”
Assuring the public of further action, the Command stated that “all members of the criminal syndicate will be identified and arrested to face the full rigours of the law.”
