Police pledge action over Ablekuma North election violence

The Accra Regional Police Command has issued a firm assurance to the public, pledging swift investigations and legal action following isolated incidents of violence during the Ablekuma North parliamentary by-election held on Friday, July 11, 2025.

In a statement released after the election, the police confirmed reports of assaults and disorderly conduct at some polling stations, which briefly disrupted the otherwise peaceful voting process.

According to preliminary findings, the incidents were promptly addressed by officers on the ground, allowing voting to continue without further disturbances.

“The Regional Command is taking steps to identify perpetrators,” the statement read. “Anyone found to have engaged in acts of violence, intimidation, or breach of the peace will be arrested and taken through the due process of law.”

The Police also called on members of the public with any information regarding the individuals involved in the disturbances to come forward.
