The Ghana Tourism Authority has announced that the Ghana Police Service and the Cyber Crime Authority are investigating an alleged kidnapping and extortion of a Diasporan who is in Ghana for Detty December by some persons purported to be officers of the Ghana Police Service.

She indicated that $400 was extorted from her and her colleague, who are in Ghana to enjoy the festivities.
The video has since gone viral and given Ghana a bad name, because the country has worked over the years to ensure that it becomes a destination for Christmas.
A statement from the Ghana Tourism Authority condemned the actions by the purported police officers and assured tourists that they are secure.
