Police probe mysterious death of 20-year-old Senegalese national in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Kumasi has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 20-year-old Senegalese national identified as Cheith Toure.
According to a police statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the deceased’s body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary at Tafo, Kumasi.
“Initial enquiries revealed that the deceased was sent to the mortuary by an individual identified as Issah, who claimed to be a brother to the deceased,” the statement read.
Further investigations at the Manhyia Government Hospital revealed that on October 16, 2025, the same Issah brought the young man to the hospital in a critical condition with several abdominal injuries. Issah reportedly claimed that the victim had been involved in an accident. However, hospital records contradicted that account, indicating that the victim was brought in dead.
The police say they are treating the case as an unnatural death and are making every effort to uncover the truth behind the incident.
“The Police Command assures the public that every effort is being made to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Toure’s death,” DSP Ahianyo stated.
