Court throws out Ken Ofori-Atta’s application to quash arrest warrant

The High Court (Criminal Division) has dismissed an application filed by Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Kenneth Ofori-Atta, seeking to nullify a warrant issued for his arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

According to a statement posted by the OSP, Mr. Ofori-Atta had argued that the arrest warrant was unlawfully secured and urged the court to set aside all related legal proceedings, including an Interpol Red Notice alert issued against him.

However, in a ruling delivered this morning, the court held that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s application “lacked merit” and dismissed it in full.

The ruling marks a significant win for the OSP as it continues investigations into alleged corruption-related offenses involving the former minister.
