The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the rescue of a 12-year-old boy who was brutally assaulted in a viral video that sparked nationwide outrage. The incident occurred in New Ankasa, near Elubo in the Western Region.
According to a press release dated June 24, 2025, the boy was seen in the video tied with a nylon rope and hanging on the roof of a building, while being severely beaten by two men for allegedly stealing GHS 200.
The Half Assini Police Division swiftly acted and arrested two suspects identified as 58-year-old Issah Morro and 27-year-old Suleman Abdul Rashid, both of whom appeared in the disturbing footage.
The victim has since received medical attention and has been reunited with his father. Police say the suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations.
