Political failures fuel Auditor-General infractions

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has attributed the persistent irregularities in the Auditor-General’s reports to what he describes as years of poor political leadership.
Speaking on The Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, August 30, Mr. Bentil expressed concern over the recurring payroll fraud and financial infractions uncovered annually.
“We are seeing these irregularities every year because of the poor political leadership we have had over the years. It’s sad that we continue to have issues about payroll fraud,” he said.
Mr. Bentil further argued that the problem persists because those implicated in the Auditor-General’s reports are rarely held accountable.
“The lack of political will to punish persons captured in the reports for causing these infractions is leading to the recurrence of the issues,” he added.
The IMANI Vice President urged government authorities to enforce stricter measures and ensure sanctions are applied, warning that without decisive action, the cycle of financial misconduct will continue unchecked.
