Politics can wait – Prince Armah urges respect for late Murtala Mohammed

Former Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to refrain from contesting the impending by-election in Tamale Central following the tragic death of the sitting MP, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

In a post shared on Facebook in the wake of the fatal military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, that claimed the lives of eight individuals—including the Tamale Central legislator—Dr. Armah appealed for dignity and political restraint during the mourning period.

“Out of respect, NPP should step aside in Tamale Central. NDC should do the same in Akwatia. Honour their memory with silence, not slogans. Politics can wait. Dignity cannot,” he wrote.

The late Dr. Murtala Mohammed, who also served as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, died alongside Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and six others while on official duty.
