Politics is a space for sabotage, blackmail, and pressure—Dennis Miracles

Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has said that politicians are the most vulnerable people in society.
He says they go through pressure from January to December from the people who give them power.
“We are very vulnerable. It is a space of blackmail; it is a space of sabotage, and it is a very difficult terrain to manoeuvre. It is pressure from morning till evening, and it is pressure from 1st January to 31st December,” he said.
On whether the pressure they have to endure is a result of their promises, he said, “I don’t think it’s necessarily about the promises because the promises also come from a particular background. Why are politicians promising the sort of things they are promising?
I always say that the democracy every country has is a reflection of the society. The question is, Frema, if I come to your constituency and I say I want to be an MP, and I give them my credentials and tell them how I understand the law, and how I can make laws, will they vote for me? What will they vote for?
So you have a situation where you are running for elections and you have people mounting signposts at their junction saying, No light, no vote, so politicians are adjusting and adapting to the environment we find ourselves in and as a result of that it brings so much pressure. It is not easy, especially for the Members of Parliament; it is very serious,” he explained while speaking to Accra-based Channel 1 Television in an interview.
