Politics shouldn’t divide us — Former NPP member Cynthia Morrison

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament and former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has emphasised the need for political tolerance and friendship across party lines, underscoring her close personal ties with politicians from the opposing side.
Speaking in an interview on Starr FM monitored by MyNewsGh, she shared warm recollections of her long-standing relationship with some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressing that politics should not destroy genuine human connections.
“I don’t think he’s very… just like that. Oh, he listens. No matter what you want,” she said, reflecting on her friendly interactions with colleagues.
Cynthia Morrison spoke affectionately about Queen, a childhood friend who belongs to the opposing political party.
“Queen is my classmate. She’s my friend. She’s my friend since childhood before we all married. We knew each other.
“We go to our homes. Our children are friends. So should politics, because of NDC or NPP, make us cut ourselves off? No, it’s not my friend? Yeah,” she expressed.
She also recounted her cordial relationship with Haruna Iddrisu, whom she described with respect and warmth.
“I spoke to him and since then, he’s so nice to me. There are quite a lot of them. Haruna is my big big brother, senior, respect him.
“He said he has to marry me. If you marry me, you’ll marry my daughter. Interesting,” she narrated with laughter, adding, “No, he was playing. Right. So, he sees me, ‘Hey, my in-law.’ Meanwhile, my daughter is married.”
