Presenting a new candidate for 2028 will mean NPP is not serious about power—Bawumia

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia believes that he is better placed to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to capture power.

He says without him as a choice, the New Patriotic Party may struggle to capture power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who has been campaigning in the Greater Accra Region ahead of the January 31, 2026, primaries, said, “The chart is set, so let’s not change our candidate going intob the 2028 election. If we are serious about power in 2028, then we need to maintain my candidature because I am the best bet for capturing power in 2028.”

He continued while addressing delegates, “Place your bet on me, and I will not disappoint you. Let’s take Dr Bawumia again”.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will go to the polls on January 31, 2026, to elect a candidate to lead the party going into the 2028 election.
