President Mahama to walk the runway at Ghana Fashion Week in July

In a bold and exciting announcement, President John Dramani Mahama revealed that he will make a special appearance on the runway during the highly anticipated Ghana Fashion Week in July 2025.
Speaking at the launch of the Black Star Experience in Accra on May 1, the President expressed his unwavering support for the nation’s fashion industry and emphasized the importance of promoting local talent.
“I have always championed the cause of Made-in-Ghana clothing, and I am proud to say that all my political suits are sewn by Ghanaian tailors,” President Mahama remarked.
His statement underscored his long-standing commitment to showcasing Ghanaian craftsmanship in every aspect of his public life.
The President further delighted the audience by announcing he would walk the catwalk not once, but three times during the event, with each outfit change paying homage to different Ghanaian designers.
“I will walk the catwalk, and with every step, I will share with you the names of the incredible designers behind each piece,” he continued.
“This is not just an event for me, but a celebration of the talent and creativity of our people.”
The Ghana Fashion Week, a key feature of the Black Star Experience, will run for seven days in July and promises to be a highlight of Ghana’s cultural calendar.
As a flagship programme under the government’s broader initiative to elevate the nation’s tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors, the event aims to position Ghana as a major player in the global fashion scene.
The Black Star Experience, which spans across cinema, audio, cuisine, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage, is designed to promote Ghana’s rich creative culture and increase its share of the global creative economy.
The fashion showcase will bring together top designers, models, and industry leaders, further cementing Ghana’s position as a vibrant hub for innovation and creativity.
