Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi to reappear in court on June 10

The trial of Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), is set to resume on June 10, 2025, following his plea of not guilty to charges linked to a controversial $2 million transfer.

Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, who was recently granted bail to the tune of GH¢10 million with two sureties, faces accusations of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, intentional dissipation of public funds, and conspiracy to commit crime.

His passport and travel documents have been surrendered as part of his bail conditions, and he is required to report weekly to investigators.

He is standing trial alongside former GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah over the transfer of public funds to Africa Investor Holdings, purportedly for a Sky Train project.

Prosecutors argue that the transaction was executed without proper authorisation or due diligence, violating financial regulations and causing significant loss to the state.

Both men deny any wrongdoing and are expected to present their defence when proceedings continue in June.
