Prof Gyampo threatens legal action over alleged defamatory TV comments

Professor Ransford Gyampo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, has demanded a full retraction and apology from Dr. George Domfeh over comments made on TV3’s The Key Point on November 15, 2025.
In a letter issued by his lawyers, Darko, Keli-Delataa & Company, the political science professor said the remarks made on the show were “ascerbic, insulting and downright defamatory.”
According to the letter, Dr. Domfeh allegedly claimed that Prof. Gyampo “is a Professor who sleeps with under-age girls,” a statement the lawyers say was widely interpreted as branding him a paedophile.
“This statement is not only reckless, it is patently false, malicious and presents a public image of our Client as hideously immoral and irresponsible,” the solicitors wrote. They added that Dr. Domfeh had “no basis in fact or in law” to make or believe such an allegation.
The letter further warned that the comments had caused “extensive damage” to Prof. Gyampo’s reputation as a respected academic.
The lawyers are demanding a retraction and apology “within 24 hours,” insisting that it must be issued on “a similar prominent platform” as the one on which the statement was made.
“If you do not act as directed, we have the firm instructions of our Client to take legal action against you,” the letter stated.
