Pure FM studio gutted by fire during live show

Kumasi-based radio station Pure FM has been dealt a devastating blow after a fire gutted its production studio on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., during the station’s evening drive show.

According to reports, the fire destroyed all equipment in the production room, despite initial efforts to contain it. “The DJ initially attempted to extinguish the flames using a fire extinguisher in the studio, but the blaze spread rapidly due to the presence of flammable materials,” one source familiar with the incident noted.

Speaking to Adom News, the General Manager of Pure FM, Kwame Adinkra, confirmed that the station had recently undergone renovations to mark its five-year anniversary. He described the incident as a major setback and called on commercial partners and listeners to remain patient as the team works to recover.

In response to the incident, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ashanti West Region, has issued an official statement expressing sympathy. The letter, signed by Regional Manager J. Owusu Achiaw and addressed to the station, stated:

“Our team of investigators conducted tests on the P.O.S meter and the service line to the facility and confirmed no anomaly. However, the surge protection on the ECG meter at the Jubilee House building (which hosts Pure FM) was triggered, indicating that the fault originated internally.”
