Reno Omokri slams Tinubu over bullion van scandal in viral throwback video

A resurfaced video of former presidential aide Reno Omokri has reignited controversy, as he directly compares President Bola Tinubu to convicted internet fraudster Hushpuppi. Omokri did not hold back, calling out what he perceives as hypocrisy in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“If you condemn Hushpuppi but did not condemn Bola Tinubu, you’re a hypocrite,” Omokri stated in the video. He pointed to the widely circulated footage of bullion vans entering Tinubu’s residence on the eve of the 2023 presidential election, questioning the source of the money being transported.
According to Omokri, Tinubu should have been investigated just as Hushpuppi was in the UAE. However, he argued that in Nigeria, “what we see instead is Tinubu acting like a cowboy.”
He also referenced Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, recalling her controversial statement during the elections: “Igbos, we don’t trust you again.”
He linked this remark to the violence that erupted in Lagos, where thugs allegedly targeted Igbo voters in strongholds to suppress their participation.
“Are you trying to tell me that there is no connection between the bullion van, Remi Tinubu’s public statement, and the violence?” Omokri questioned.
Further criticizing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Omokri alleged that corruption thrives within the party, citing how former Kano governor Umar Ganduje—who was caught on camera allegedly accepting bribes—was later appointed to head the Edo State APC Election Committee.
