Rev. John Ntim Fordjour Blames NDC for Poor WASSCE Results

The Member of Parliament for Assin South and former Deputy Education Minister, Rev. Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, has attributed the challenges reflected in the latest WASSCE results to the current NDC administration.
Speaking on Okay 101.7 FM on Monday, December 1, 2025, during a discussion with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, Rev. Fordjour said, “During our tenure of governance, these students did exceedingly well. They contested in contests and won awards. Three children went to contest in an African quiz and did well, but through all these wins, the NDC blamed the then President Akufo-Addo, claiming we had made up grades for these students, whilst in reality, these students were performing well academically.”
He also addressed the recent WASSCE results, criticizing the current government’s handling of the situation.
He said that instead of taking responsibility for the outcome, the NDC is placing the blame on his party, claiming that the strengths of students are now visible and that previous grades were allegedly inflated.
He described this approach as disappointing and unhelpful, arguing that it reflects poorly on the government to shift accountability rather than focus on improving education outcomes for the students.
Rev. Fordjour emphasized that the government should take responsibility for the education outcomes under its watch, rather than attributing past successes or failures to previous administrations.
