Rev. Opuni Frimpong Defends Christian School Policies on Student Conduct

Former General Secretary of the Christian Council, Rev. Opuni Frimpong, has defended the rules and regulations of Christian schools, emphasizing that they must be respected by students and parents alike.

He spoke on Okay 101.7 FM on November 28, 2025, during the program Ade Akye Abia, hosted by Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.

Rev. Frimpong highlighted that different faith-based schools operate under their own guidelines. He pointed to government-assisted T.I. Ahmadiyah schools for Muslim students, where students are allowed to attend Friday prayers at the mosque, as an example of schools following their specific religious protocols.

He stressed that Christian schools similarly have rules that must be upheld to protect their integrity and proper functioning.

“You do not expect the rules of Muslim schools to be the same as Christian schools,” he said, adding that even members who contribute offerings to support Christian schools sometimes cannot have their children admitted due to established protocols, citing the Presbyterian Church and Aburi Girls as example. He warned that unless such issues are addressed, the willingness of church members to support schools financially could decline.

Rev. Frimpong further stressed, “If we have built a school and you want to attend, you may, but do not come and demand that we change our rules for you. You cannot leave available Muslim schools and come to our Christian schools to dictate terms.”

The former General Secretary’s comments underline the importance of respecting the policies of faith-based institutions while maintaining the balance between religious freedoms and school integrity.
