Sammy Gyamfi is not my friend, but I accept his apology – Dzifa Gomashie

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has added her voice to the ongoing public debate surrounding the viral video showing Ghana Gold Board Acting CEO Sammy Gyamfi handing over cash—reportedly in US dollars—to evangelist and former fetish priestess, Nana Agradaa.
In a Facebook post published Monday morning, Gomashie offered a personal reflection on her interactions with Gyamfi, while urging the public to accept his apology over the incident.
“Dear Somebody,” her note began, before she recounted how she first met Gyamfi during his campaign for the position of National Communications Officer for the NDC.
Though she said she wouldn’t describe him as a friend, she noted that she eventually came to see him as one of her “many aunties” due to their political association.
Gomashie described a moment during her 2024 campaign in Ketu South when she invited Gyamfi to support her efforts.
Although he was initially unavailable on the scheduled date, she said he offered financial assistance to support the event, and later fulfilled his promise by showing up.
She also recalled an incident where a friend of hers offended Gyamfi during the campaign. “I was so embarrassed. I sent him a message to apologize… He accepted the apology. Today, I too, accept his APOLOGY. I hope you accept his apology too,” she wrote, signaling a call for public understanding.
Gomashie also addressed the second figure in the viral video, Nana Agradaa, whom she referred to as “the female ‘Osofo’.”
She said she encountered the controversial evangelist only once, at a 2020 event where veteran actress Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokono) and others were honored with vehicles for their service to the creative arts.
According to Gomashie, she was surprised by the large sums of dollars Agradaa was distributing at that event and had to ask who she was.
“This life still baffles me,” she wrote, concluding with the words: “Learn, unlearn and learn again.”
