Schoolgirl drowns during visit to boyfriend at Tomefa

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed the recovery of the lifeless body of a schoolgirl, Gloria Segoe, from a pool of water at Tomefa in the Ga South Municipality. The tragic incident occurred on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the GNFS detailed the timeline of the operation, which lasted 40 minutes.

“Last night (Monday, June 23, 2025), GNFS rescue personnel retrieved the lifeless body of a schoolgirl, Gloria Segoe, from a pool of water at Tomefa in the Ga South Municipality,” the statement read.

According to the Service, the operation began at 2202 hours and concluded at 2242 hours. Gloria was reportedly in the area to visit her boyfriend before the unfortunate incident.

“She was reportedly in town to visit her boyfriend,” GNFS disclosed.

The body has since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service, who are now leading an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.

“An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding her untimely passing,” the GNFS added.
