Sefa Kayi says Mahama ‘must be the most broken’

Kwame Sefa Kayi, aka Chairman General, has urged Ghanaians to keep President John Mahama in their prayers as the nation mourns the eight lives lost in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash.

The ace broadcaster and morning show veteran said, “I think more of us should bear President Mahama up in prayers despite our collective grief. He must be the most broken person despite our collective grief,” while on Joy FM’s Newsfile on Saturday, August 9.

The crash claimed the lives of several high-profile figures, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former Obuasi East NDC Parliamentary Candidate Samuel Aboagye, and NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi Mayor Dr. Samuel Sarpong. Also among the dead were three military crew members — Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

According to military reports, the Z-9 helicopter was heading to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme when it lost contact with radar and crashed in the Dampia Range Forest Reserve, located in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The tragedy has plunged the nation into deep mourning, with tributes pouring in for the victims and calls for unity as the country grapples with the loss.
