Sell your candidate and stop peddling lies about others— Kyei Mensah Bonsu

Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to focus on marketing their candidate rather than peddling lies about their opponents.

According to him, lies will not win the contest but will further divide the political party, which is currently rebuilding after a heavy defeat in the 2024 elections.

He made this known while debunking some comments attributed to him on the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.

“I have always said that when you get the opportunity, sell your candidate. Tell the people what your candidate is capable of, and do not tell lies about people. I leave those who tell lies in the hands of God. If you don’t support the candidate I am supporting, you should not tell lies about me, market your candidate,” he said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened nominations for persons interested in the flagbearer position to pick their forms and contest for the position.

The political party intends to go to the polls on January 31, 2025, to elect its flagbearer. The Leadership of the party has argued that early primaries will help ease the tension in the party and help in the rebuilding process.
