Seven houses affected, one firefighter injured in Lartebiokorshie blaze

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Rashid Nisawu has assured residents of Lartebiokorshie in Accra that the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has the situation under control following a fire outbreak that ravaged seven houses and left one firefighter injured.

“At the moment, we have been able to confine the fire.

“We currently have about six fire engines working to contain the blaze. There should not be any panic.

“We want to assure everybody that they should not panic,” ACFO Nisawu stated.

He explained that the first emergency call was received at 16:15 hours, and within a minute, a fire tender was dispatched.

By 16:24 hours, the first fire engine was already on the scene, ensuring a rapid response to the emergency.

The Regional Fire Commander further revealed the logistical challenges firefighters faced.

“We have to commute to distant places for water. We also called the police to assist us in managing the crowd and ensuring safety,” he said.

While no fatalities were recorded, both a firefighter and a civilian sustained injuries during the incident. They have since been attended to by the Ambulance Service team.

Security agencies remain stationed at the scene as emergency responders continue to monitor the situation and assess the extent of the damage.
