Shatta Wale represents Ghana’s frustrated youth – Victoria Hamah

Former Deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hamah has described Shatta Wale as more than a musician, saying he represents the frustrations and aspirations of Ghana’s younger generation.
Reacting to the record-breaking crowd at ShattaFest held at Independence Square, Hamah said the thousands who attended were not just fans celebrating a musician but citizens expressing a collective hunger for hope and meaning.
She explained that in a country where unemployment, economic hardship, and political disappointment have weakened trust in government, Shatta Wale’s music gives people a voice.
“Through music, performance, and controversy, Shatta Wale gives expression to the unspoken frustrations of the majority of Ghanaians,” she wrote.
Hamah said the “Shatta Movement” has become more than a fan base, it is a form of social movement that unites people across class, tribe, and political affiliation.
She added that Wale’s connection with the streets makes him an “authentic reflection of the Ghanaian condition.”
