Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini is a stolen car from USA – EOCO confirms

The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed that it seized a luxury Lamborghini Urus from Ghanaian artiste Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, following a joint investigation with U.S. authorities.

According to a press release dated August 5, 2025, the operation was carried out at Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley residence in June after a 2023 request from the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department.

The vehicle is believed to be linked to proceeds from financial crimes committed by Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving an 86-month sentence in the United States.

“The car was seized from one Charles Nii Armah, aka Shatta Wale,” EOCO said. “The officers were professional and civil, and the search and seizure occurred without incident.”

The statement added that Shatta Wale initially pleaded with EOCO officers not to make the seizure public. “He stated that the vehicle was a big part of his brand and that if supporters saw it being driven away by EOCO, it would destroy his brand,” the statement noted.

EOCO confirmed that the artist was allowed to voluntarily surrender the car, which is currently in the agency’s possession.

The seizure was part of a larger surveillance and asset recovery operation carried out by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU). EOCO says the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department intend to file a Mutual Legal Assistance request to repatriate the vehicle as part of efforts to recover Amuah’s $4.7 million restitution.

Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau have both been designated as persons of interest in the ongoing investigation. EOCO said they will be invited to assist further in the coming days.
