MyNewsgh.com’s sources at the ongoing National Executive Committee emergency meeting currently which is currently ongoing has disclosed to this portal that flagbearer aspirant Dr Bryan Acheampong shut Chairman Wontumi down when he vehemently opposed the decision to postpone the upcoming National Delegates Conference.
To chairman Wontumi, it is right for the party to hold its National Delegations Conference on July 19, 2025 and the party’s primaries on January 3- 2026.
He is of the view that the party needs a leader to steer the affairs in order to make them a formidable opposition political party.
But Bryan Acheampong who is opposed to the decision shut the Ashanti regional chairman down reminding him that he bailed him when EOCO arrested him a fortnight ago.
“Shut up, I just bailed you,” Bryan Acheampong said while Wontumi was making his point at the meeting.
Earlier on, there were reports that former President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was opposed to the party’s dates for the conference and the presidential primaries.
However, a statement from a former staffer said the former president has no challenges with the dates and respects the party’s processes.
