Silence on EOCO’s investigation of Yamin and Abanga a detriment to the fight against galamsey

Policy Analyst, Dr Steve Manteaw, has questioned the state of the investigation involving the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a Vice Chairman of the NDC, Abanga.
It will be recalled that the Attorney General wrote to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate Joseph Yamin and Abanga.
The two were said to have been involved in illegal mining.
In the letter, he also asked that all persons named in the Prof. Frimpong Boateng report must be investigated.
However, several months after the letter to EOCO, the public hasn’t been briefed on the state of the investigation.
In a post shared via social media, Steve Manteaw demanded a briefing on the state of the said investigation considering how dire the illegal mining topic has been.
He said, “Wondering what happened to this investigation. Just when I thought we were beginning to make a headway in the fight against galamsey, then bam, everything goes quiet. Until we tackle the financiers of galamsey, and the politically connected persons behind it, the fight will not be any different from that of the previous government”.
