The family of Mrs. Ama Adoma Bartels-Kodwo has announced her passing on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
A respected member of the prominent Ahwoi family, Mrs. Bartels-Kodwo was the sister of Honourable Ato Ahwoi, Ambassador Kwesi Ahwoi, and Professor Kwamena Ahwoi—all of whom served as Ministers of State and played significant roles in Ghana’s political development.
She was also sister to Mrs. Efua Bram-Larbi and Mrs. Agnes Appiagyei-Dankah.
She was married to Ambassador Jonathan Paa Kow Bartels-Kodwo, former Director of the Research Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The couple had three children: Mr. Paa Kow Bartels-Kodwo, based in the United States; Ms. Nana Adwoa Bartels-Kodwo, resident in the United Kingdom; and Ms. Maame Efua Bartels-Kodwo.
The family has indicated that details of the one-week observance and funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
