Sixty-two polling stations were compromised, rerun now – Valerie Sawyerr ‘orders’ EC

The demand for a re-run of parliamentary elections in the Ablekuma North Constituency is gaining momentum, with fresh revelations of irregularities adding fuel to an already raging fire.

Dr. Valerie Esther Sawyerr, Presidential Advisor and senior NDC member, has taken the lead in questioning the legitimacy of the final results, which were based in part on scanned pink sheets presented by the NPP—after the original carbonated pink sheets from all sides were reportedly destroyed during a chaotic scene at the collation center on December 7-8, 2024.

At the heart of her argument is a simple question: Can scanned pink sheets, validated by some—but not all—Presiding Officers, form a credible foundation for declaring a winner?

According to Dr. Sawyerr, the Electoral Commission’s admission of scanned pink sheets from one political party—without full validation—violates electoral protocols and undermines transparency.

“Seventeen Presiding Officers were brought in to ‘validate’ scanned sheets. Some couldn’t even confirm the data attributed to their polling stations,” she stated.

She is now calling on the EC to declare a fresh election in the 62 affected polling stations, warning that any refusal to act could damage the country’s democratic fabric and stir political unrest.
