Social Media Reacts as Obour Resigns as Ghana Post MD

The resignation of Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, as the Managing Director of Ghana Post has sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some praised his leadership and contributions to the postal service, others questioned the impact of his tenure.
Announcing his resignation in a statement shared on social media, Obour reflected on his time in office, highlighting the progress made under his leadership.
“I assumed office as Managing Director of Ghana Post on January 4, 2022, and it has been an honour and a privilege to serve in this role, steering Ghana Post through a transformative phase aimed at repositioning it as a modern, efficient, and customer-centric postal services and logistics provider,” he said.
Obour credited his administration with advancements in digitalization, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. He expressed gratitude to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the efforts of his sector minister, Ursula Owusu, as well as the Board and staff of Ghana Post.
“As I resign from this position to pursue other interests, I wish to express my utmost appreciation to Hon. Ursula Owusu, who was my sector minister, the Board of Directors, and the hardworking Management and staff of Ghana Post whose dedication and commitment have been instrumental in the progress we have made,” he stated.
His announcement, however, drew a wave of reactions from Ghanaians online. Some applauded his leadership, citing visible improvements in Ghana Post’s services. Others, however, remained critical, questioning whether his tenure truly transformed the institution.
A social media user wrote, “Obour did well in modernizing Ghana Post. We need more leaders like him in public institutions.”
Another user, however, commented, “What exactly did he achieve? Ghana Post still struggles with efficiency. We need real transformation, not PR.”
Obour wished the new administration, led by President John Dramani Mahama, success, expressing confidence that the foundation laid during his tenure would propel Ghana Post toward greater achievements. Yet, as the dust settles on his resignation, public opinion remains divided over his legacy at Ghana Post.
